The Short-term rental regulation is based on Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 547, Licensing and Registration of Short-Term Rentals. A short-term rental is all or part of a dwelling unit rented out for less than 28 consecutive days in exchange for payment. This includes bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) but excludes hotels and motels. It also excludes other accommodations where there is no payment.
Short-term rental operators are people renting their homes or rooms on a short-term basis, for a period of less than 28 consecutive days. These operators need to register with the City in order to operate in Toronto.
This dataset contains all short-term rental active registration numbers issued from the City of Toronto, ward number, ward name, and the first 3 digits of the postal code. This information was collected from the registration process and the issuance of an approved short-term rental operator registration #. This information is updated on a daily basis.
